Live-in care refers to one-on-one, around-the-clock, personalized care within the home.  Live-in care services are an effective solution for seniors who require 24-hour care and are able to provide a caregiver with food and a place to sleep.  Live-in care is also a good alternative if you will be on vacation or out of town for a short period of time and would like for someone to be at home with your loved one in your absence. Use the list below to help you understand live-in care and how it affects your family.

Through our 24-hour care service, a team of Colors Healthcare coordinates caregiving responsibilities in shifts around the clock.  This offers clients and their families the full-time peace of mind that they deserve. Specific non-medical in-home care services can be tailored to meet each client’s needs.  This type of continuous in-home care service is ideal for clients who are at risk when unattended, such as persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia-related conditions.

Live-ins can provide the following services**:

  • Bedside monitoring for patients in a facility or in the home
  • Assistance with personal care activities (bathing, grooming, etc.)
  • Reminding (medication, dates, routines, etc.)
  • Assisting with mobility
  • Preparing meals and feeding
  • Providing companionship
  • Performing light housekeeping
  • Running errands (prescription pick-up, dry cleaning, etc.)
  • Organizing, shipping, and reading mail
  • Grocery shopping
  • Escorting to appointments
  • Assisting with pet care
  • Entertaining (games, crafts, reading, etc.)

In the case that your permanent live-in(s) needs time off, Colors Healthcare will work directly with your family to plan for alternative care by finding a substitute live-in. You may also choose to care for your loved one on your own until your permanent live-in returns.  The live-in is only responsible for the care of his/her patient, not other individuals living in the home.

The live-in is only responsible for the care of his/her patient, not other individuals living in the home. The Live In will require Sleeping arrangements (a separate bed)*, a place to put his or her belongings (dresser, closet, etc.) and Groceries/food (provided by patient and/or family, but prepared by live-in).
